That dogs are attracted to nursing mothers...

Was informed of this by two of the professional dog-walkers (someone should make a movie on those folks). Seems to be true, considering i have been marked a few times lately and i like the pied piper at the dog park today...
Summer weather continues - ahh! Tom says this summer was the best of his life:)

And the summer wanes...

All i've learned lately is i sure suck at this blogging thing... But life is flying by, and my boys are growing up and i feel the need to claw at time and slow it down a little. But i can't, so at the very least i need to document at least a few of the things that flavour our days!
I have a 2 year old who speaks like a 12 year old and sounds like he smokes a pack a day. He likes to call us by our first names whenever he can get away with it. Here's some of our favourites lately:
Seeing his Uncle Derek for the first time in awhile (also uttered to his dad after he'd left the room for 5 minutes - 'It's great to see you again'
When asked by a fireman if he'd like to sit in the firetruck - 'I'll think about it'
While on a roadside stop this summer he started dancing with his shadow.
When his Opa's car alarm sounded - 'John, your car is beeping'.
He's counting to 10, it's terrifying and great. And the little man is rolling and smiling and giggling and has made me cry from happiness more than once, and i never cry!
We had the most perfect summer - great weather, all of us home together. We moved rocks, re-did the yard, expanded the deck, played at the cabin, roadtriped to northern bc, splash-parked, zoo-ed, read, played in fernie. It was amazing time together. We're sad it's over but are so grateful for the gift that it was!
so here it is, no pictures, nothing fancy, not what i envisioned, but something none the less. Hopefully the start of more!

Training wheels!

Like a plant; if I water my roots, I will grow!

Sweet new bubble-blowing machine. So manly.

At least i pulled up my pants!

Hurry up Dad, you're falling behind...

I'll do it myself - thanks. I'm one year old for goodness sake!

Squirrel feast

So turns out we're attracting more squirrels than birds - but that's Ok - the Currie house is squirrel friendly. Evan and Tucker were both equally thrilled. Also added a very exciting video of our friday morning dog walks.

Packing lightly...

Scored a great deal on a kiddie backpack on kijiji yesterday so, of course, we needed to go break it in! Nothing gets Tom out of bed early like a World Cup Soccer game, so it was easy to get ourselves out the door. And hey, it wasn't raining so it was easy to get motivated. Our original plan was Elbow Lake but the snow and 8C were not appealling - it's June for goodness sake, so we turned around and did Kananaskis lake trail instead. The backpack was a hit for Dad and Evan, mom was less of a fan as Evan took full advantage of his elevated position to steer using her hair as the reins. Apparently hair pulling is a tiring business as you can see by the picture!

Ticket Wicket

So, i have added to my list of ridiculous tickets. That's right, still no speeding tickets (not that i'm complaining) but a ticket for playing frisbee with my dog. Actually i would have gotten a ticket for the that except that Tucker has apparently not het his license renewed since 2006. Bad dog - wish he's stay more on top of that stuff. Evan's lucky he didn't get a ticket too - the bylaw officer was questioning him when he had tucker's leash - 'are you sure you have control of that dog, young man'? Sheesh...
So, 250 dollars poorer we headed to the doctor to address chronic cough diaper rash - Evan, not me, that is. He's fine, just a really delicate little flower:) who spent the first 90 minutes of his day screaming. Let's hope these nasty eye teeth come in soon!
In other news, i'm finally doing this blogging thing. So far, not so painful after 2 years of procrastination!
